The official Twitter account of Kaguya-sama: Love is War has announced that their new project will be a film titled Kaguya-sama: Love is War – First Kiss wa Owaranai (The First Kiss Never Ends). The statement also confirmed that the film will have a theatrical release in Japan but will be followed by a television version.
Furthermore, the title confirms that the project is a direct continuation of the third season. This is because it coincides with the title of the arc, affectionately known as the ‘Ice Kaguya Arc.’ It’s when Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane decide to ‘remove their masks’ and show that they love the “true me” of the other.
Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane are two geniuses at the top of the student council of their prestigious academy, making them the elite among elites. But it’s lonely at the top, and each falls in love with the other. There is only one big problem in the way of loving happiness – they are both too proud to be the first to confess their romantic feelings and thus become the “loser” in the love competition! And so begins their daily plans to force the other to confess first!
The first anime adaptation premiered in January 2019, the second in April 2020, and a twelve-episode third season premiered in April 2022. The manga also inspired a live-action film that premiered on September 6, 2019.
Akasaka started the series in Shueisha’s Miracle Jump magazine in May 2015 but changed it to Young Jump in March 2016. The original work also inspired two spinoff manga series.
